In a preliminary report released today, researchers at the University of Miami School of Medicine have found a significant correlation between salt use and stroke risk – notably, regardless of blood pressure levels. The study examined over 2600 people and found a 250% increase in the likelihood of a stroke among people using more than two tablespoons of salt per day, compared with people who used less than a half-tablespoon of salt per day. Note that the study is preliminary and does not show causation. Learn more about the new findings at Salt And Stroke Risk.
