Longer weekends

Want to stretch the time between Friday afternoon and Monday morning? Here’s one way…a 20 kilometer overnight backpack in a nearby wilderness area. Through time in nature, we warp social time and unwarp ourselves…

Just better

Some days meals just come out better…simple veggie omelet with mixed greens and berries…garnished with pistachios, parsley, turmeric, coriander, and black pepper…

How far to walk

We are often asked how far to walk by people seeking natural conditioning. One response we might offer is more than the day before, if we have the time. And if we can walk all day, then our reply might be to walk until we find more awe than the day before…

New HN look

We approved work today on a new look for the HumanaNatura website. Though evolutionary, the new design improves readability and navigation, better ties the site visually to our new blog, and prepares us for planned revisions to the website’s content. Look for the new look to go live in about a month!

Why hike

You may wonder why we advocate walking and hiking as strongly as we do…or not. You can learn more about HumanaNatura’s Personal Health Program at Why Hike.

To stretch or not

Whether and how long to stretch before rigorous exercise is a persistent question in many sports. A new study of nearly 3,000 runners, presented this week at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, suggests that it essentially doesn’t matter. Researchers found that runners who stretched and did not stretch had similar associated risks of injury during subsequent exercise. Perhaps surprisingly, the study found that changing one’s approach was more closely associated with injury. Learn more about the new findings at To Stretch or Not.
