Hearty & Healthy Salad Meal!

Meals made the HumanaNatura way and using HumanaNatura’s OurPlate guidelines are always healthy, and they can be made hearty too when you feel the need for a filling or lasting meal. To do this, simply use a more filling protein, and combine it with a generous amount of raw vegetables and enough fruit to make the meal piquant and slightly adventurous.

Today’s meal inspiration shows this idea in action. It uses a tuna fillet, which is now available at a very low-cost in many markets via flash-freezing technology. Though tuna is a fish from high in the marine food chain and, like red meats, should be a somewhat limited part of our total diet, it is a delicious and still healthy break from a dominant pattern of protein foods favoring non-red animal meats and fish from lower in the food chain.

This rich and delicious meal was made in less than 15 minutes and at a cost that rivals fast food.  It starts with a broiled tuna fillet with diced red onion and carrot, garlic bits, turmeric, parsley, and red and black pepper. While this hearty protein is cooking, a veggie base and mix are prepared with fresh arugula, diced cucumber, halved grape tomatoes, and orange wedges. We then add our cooked protein to the side and it’s all garnished with pistachios, parsley, lemon, coriander, and black pepper. Delicious, satisfying, and easy to prepare…yes, you can have hearty and healthy too!

Into The Blue Salad Meal!

Meals made the HumanaNatura way and using HumanaNatura’s OurPlate guidelines are always healthy. But taking the extra steps of using fish as the protein, and using fish from lower in the marine food chain, can make our modern natural meals perfect. In principle, fish is the healthiest form of protein available to us – even more so when large fish (and their frequent accumulated metals and toxins) are avoided. In practice, going “into the blue” for our protein in this way is simply delicious, as today’s HumanaNatura impressive salad meal demonstrates.

This extra-healthy and great-just-to-look-at salad meal took about ten minutes to prepare. We began with a sauté of fresh sole lightly cooked with red onion, chopped carrot, garlic bits, turmeric, and black pepper. This protein then is paired  with fresh arugula, diced cucumber, halved grape tomatoes, and a few blueberries. Just before serving, it’s all garnished with pistachios, parsley, lemon, coriander, and black pepper. Go into the blue today if you can…with fresh fish, a few blueberries, and of course a blue plate to match!

Anyday Brunch Salad Meal!

Though we made this delicious and fancy salad meal for Sunday brunch – the HumanaNatura way and using HumanaNatura’s OurPlate guidelines – it would be just as good any day of the week. You can easily follow our lead! Start with a sautéed fish fillet, seasoned with red onion and garlic bits, turmeric, ginger, lemon, and black pepper. As the fillet cooks, prepare a half-plate of greens with diced orange and a scattering of whole and cut seasonal berries. Combine the two and then garnish this extra-healthy meal simply with pistachios, parsley, coriander, and a bit more lemon and black pepper. Healthy Solstice Greetings!

Greetings from HumanaNatura at the solstice! Across our earth, we are now at the extremes of light and darkness in the natural year. For the southern hemisphere, this is the shortest and naturally most constrained day of the year, but the beginning of longer days and lengthening light too. In the north, it is the height of the year and a jubilant time of sweeping light, especially in the north’s higher latitudes, marking the transition of spring into summer.

In both cases, we are halfway between the relative balance and calm of the spring and fall equinoxes, when HumanaNatura encourages examination and renewal of our Natural Life Plan. At the solstice, however, HumanaNatura instead recommends life and health-affirming celebration and time with others, rather than reflection and planning, in an ancient human rhythm that has its roots before recorded history.

Often, we treat our brains – that is, ourselves – as relatively unchanging and largely unaffected by reduced physical health, even as this widespread intuition is measurably untrue.

In fact, reduced physical health is almost always accompanied by lowered cognitive and emotional functioning, circularly restraining our self-awareness and motivation and keeping us at reduced overall states of health. The practical effect of this health-limiting cycle is to prevent us from seeing our life in more vital and expansive terms, and thus from intentionally pursuing new growth and progressive life.

Veggie Omelet Salad Meal!

There are lots of ways of eating optimally the HumanaNatura way and using HumanaNatura’s OurPlate guidelines. One way is with eggs. Though we do recommend limiting eggs and red meats to no more than 25% of overall protein intake, owing to their higher fat levels, this limitation is no reason why you cannot regularly enjoy salad meals with eggs. Eggs are a natural and very versatile protein food, and have the added advantage of being extra-quick to prepare. This tasty and easy-to-make salad meal includes a veggie omelet, featuring diced red onion and broccoli, a base of arugula, and a mix of diced cucumber, orange, and tomato. Making Health Science Simple

All of us live in modern times, but are from ancient ones. We are billions of years in the making, and have long-evolved natural needs and capacities that lead to and ensure our natural health and fulfilling life. When we live in harmony with our ancient nature today, our health and well-being increase. But when we live contrary to this nature – as we often do in our time for a variety of reasons – our health and quality of life reliably regress, as does that of the people we influence.

Through science, we now know that our natural health is really that straightforward in practice, implying a needed new synthesis of natural and modern life in many areas. We also know that we now have the opportunity in our science-rich times to expand upon and greatly progress our original natural health and vitality. Unfortunately, the science underlying our natural health and its new modern potential can be involved and complex.
